Dr. Samantha Langley-Turnbaugh

Samantha, a native of Kittery, received a B.S. in forest engineering from the University of Maine-Orono in 1987. She then continued work as an on-the-ground forest industry professional that she began as an intern with Scott Paper Co. during college. When she attended graduate school at the University of New Hampshire, she discovered an affinity for teaching and scholarship and an interest in soil science. After completing a M.S. in soils at UNH, Samantha traveled to the University of Wisconsin-Madison to earn her Ph.D. in soil science, awarded in 1995. Sam has been on the faculty of the Department of Environmental Science at the University of Southern Maine since 1996. As of 2010, she has been the Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs for Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity at the University of Southern Maine.

Dr. Jean Whitney

Jean Whitney is currently Assistant Professor of Special Education at the University of Southern Maine where she teaches research methods, action research, a course on transition for elementary and secondary students, and supervises and co-coordinates a unified secondary, special education and content certification, masters degree program. Prior to her work at USM, Jean coordinated a doctoral level program in educational leadership education and disability policy at UMASS Boston. In 1998 she was awarded a Switzer Fellowship from the National Institute for Disability and Rehabilitation Research, which funded research on the school to adult life experiences of students with and without disabilities in a Massachusetts high school.
